Title: Hidden (Avena #1)
Author: Marianne Curley
Publication: June 25th, 2013
Publisher: Bloomsbury
Rating: 2.5 out 5

Synopsis: For as long as Ebony can remember, she's been sheltered. Confined to her home in a secluded valley, home-schooled by her protective parents, and limited to a small circle of close friends. It's as if she's being hidden. But something is changing in Ebony. Something that can't be concealed. She's growing more beautiful by the day, she's freakishly strong, and then there's the fact that she's glowing

On one fateful night, Ebony meets Jordan and she's intensely drawn to him. It's as if something explodes inside of her--something that can be seen from the heavens. Ebony still doesn't know that she's a stolen angel, but now that the heavens have found her, they want her back.

Review: Okay, so it’s my goal to give books benefits of the doubt, and look at the brighter side. I’m sorry to say it was hard with this one. My favorite genre – no matter the age range – is romance and paranormal in one book. That’s why Hidden intrigued me. Angels? Hot guys? Mystery? LOVE? Sign me up!

Yeah… no. Ebony was relatable in the beginning; I really enjoy her personality. When the angels came and said “you’re one of us, kay?” she took a step back and denied everything. That, to me, is admirable. I don’t like books where they’re okay with entering the paranormal world. Example: guy says he’s a werewolf, girl loves alpha male even more. If someone told me “Yeah, I’m a Werewolf” you think I’d want to stay with him? Hell. No. So I understand her thought process. After a while I lost respect for her because of the horrible decisions she made. Same with her love interest! He got on my nerves really quickly. I guess it’s because he’s not the type of guy for me

I’m a sucker for insta love within the correct circumstances. If two people love each other right off the bat it has to be more than looks and magnetic feeling. I like insta love when they find a common interest or a trait they share. I’m not going to lie, if you ask me “team Edward or Jacob?” I’d have to go with Jacob because werewolves have alpha nature (rawr), and devotion towards mates. That’s an okay-way to fall in love with each other because it will be out of respect.

At first I felt the plot was moving a bit to fast for my liking, then after a while very, very slow. I ended up skipping some pages and skimming paragraphs just to get to the end. I felt that it was like every other story, and there was no mystery towards it. It was like the author was basing this plot off another book.

I kept reading because in the end I wanted to know what happened to the characters, so the plot did have qualities that kept me engaged. If you like angel books, give it a try… I suggest another series though.

I have so many books on my To-Read Shelf lol... Umm, one I'm really looking forward to is... Brightly by Kaye Thornbrugh <3 I loved Flicker and I am just very impatient for the sequel.. lol

Oh look at me, commenting on the wrong post! LOL Sorry! Great review! Very honest and professional of you :)

Hmmm... this one sounded intriguing to me too, but I don't think I'll run out and get it anytime soon. Thanks for your honest review!

I want to read the new book coming out from Christine Feehan and I always love new books from Lorelei James, Maya Banks, etc. Lora Leigh has one out and when I can afford to buy it, her books are rather pricy, I'm going to pick it up for my ereader...Thank you for your giveaway.

Angel book? I don't really like it

Great review!! I am a sucker for angel books. ;)

That cover should belong to a book that is nothing short of fantastic. It is very sad that it does not. It is even worse that a book that sounds so promising, seems to be disappointing more often than not. I applaud you for giving it a chance and reading it through. That is what I always try to do, myself. Maybe just being hopeful that something will happen and change my opinion drastically, so that I can give it a good review! Thank you for the review!

It's on my to-read but now I'm not sure how to feel. I'm still going to read it. Hopefully Curley's style will keep me interested.
